What can the RangeXTD do?
The RangeXTD is essentially a 3-in-1 device. This allows you to use it in three different modes, each with a different function:
- Wireless Repeater Mode: In this mode, the RangeXTD picks up your router's existing Wi-Fi signal, amplifies it, and retransmits it. This allows you to extend your Wi-Fi range, bridge larger distances, and thus deliver a strong Wi-Fi signal even to remote corners where the signal is normally quite weak. This mode is therefore particularly suitable for large houses, offices, warehouses, or similar spaces.
- Wireless AP mode: In wireless AP mode (access point mode), the RangeXTD connects to a wired network and converts it into a wireless network. This allows multiple devices to use the signal simultaneously. This mode is best used when there is interference or the Wi-Fi signal isn't reaching the room (e.g., due to very thick walls). This mode is particularly suitable for basements or for extending the Wi-Fi signal outside into the garden.
- Router mode: In this mode, the RangeXTD connects to a DSL or cable modem and functions as a standard wireless router. This mode is suitable when only one DSL or cable modem is available, but multiple devices want to use the network.

Installing the RangeXTD is essentially a breeze. However, setting it up correctly depends on the mode you want to use the device in:
- Wireless Repeater Mode
- Wireless AP mode:
- Router mode:
Below we will explain exactly how you can set up all 3 modes.
Set up wireless repeater mode
Via WPS button:
- Switch to repeater mode
- Plug the RangeXTD into a power outlet & switch it on
- Press the WPS button on the RangeXTD for approximately 1-2 seconds. The LED will now flash for approximately 2 minutes.
- Within these 2 minutes you now also press the WPS button on your WLAN router
- The two devices connect automatically.
Note: This only works if your Wi-Fi router supports WPS. If it doesn't have a WPS button, you'll have to set it up via a web browser.
Via web browser:
- Switch to repeater mode
- Plug the RangeXTD into a power outlet & switch it on
- Open network or internet settings on the desired device
- Connect to RangeXTD
- Open browser on the device
- Enter the IP address of the RangeXTD in the URL field
- You can find this on the back of the device
- Enter password and log in
- Default password: admin
- Select repeater
- Select your WLAN SSID from the list
- SSID: The name of your Wi-Fi network
- Enter and apply WLAN password
- Open the Internet settings on the desired device again and connect to the new SSID
Set up wireless AP mode
- Switch to AP (Access Point) mode
- Plug the RangeXTD into a power outlet & switch it on
- Using the supplied Ethernet cable, connect your WLAN router and the RangeXTD
- Open network or internet settings on the desired device
- Connect to RangeXTD
- Open browser on the device
- Enter the IP address of the RangeXTD in the URL field
- You can find this on the back of the device
- Enter password and log in
- Default password: admin
- Select AP
- Select your WLAN SSID from the list
- SSID: The name of your Wi-Fi network
- Select security preference
- Enter and apply WLAN password
- Now wait a while until the RangeXTD restarts
- After the restart, you can now go back to the Internet settings with the desired device and connect to the RangeXTD AP.
Set up router mode
- Switch to router mode
- Plug the RangeXTD into a power outlet & switch it on
- Use the supplied Ethernet cable to connect your modem and the RangeXTD
- Open network or internet settings on the desired device
- Connect to RangeXTD
- Open browser on the device
- Enter the IP address of the RangeXTD in the URL field
- You can find this on the back of the device
- Enter password and log in
- Default password: admin
- Select router
- Select access point
- Either DHCP (usually the default), STATIC or PPPOE
- Rename SSID
- SSID: The name of your Wi-Fi network
- Select security preference
- Enter password and apply
- Now wait a while until the RangeXTD restarts
- After the restart, you can now go back to the Internet settings with the desired device and connect to the selected SSID.
